Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions govern access to and use of the AddressConnect platform, including our website, APIs, dashboard, documentation, data outputs, and related services. By creating an account, generating or using an API key, or otherwise accessing the service, you agree to be bound by these terms.

These terms are intended for business users only. If you access the service on behalf of a company or other organisation, you confirm that you have authority to bind that entity.

1. Scope and order of precedence

These terms apply unless we have signed a separate written agreement with you that expressly replaces them in whole or in part. If there is a conflict between these terms and a signed enterprise agreement or order form, the signed agreement or order form will control to the extent of that conflict.

2. The service we provide

AddressConnect provides a hosted address lookup and related developer platform. The service may include autocomplete, postcode lookup, UPRN resolution, account tooling, usage reporting, billing, technical documentation, and related data products or outputs we make available from time to time.

We may modify, improve, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service where reasonably necessary for security, legal compliance, technical maintenance, supplier changes, product development, or abuse prevention.

3. Business use only and account responsibility

The service is supplied for professional and business use, not for consumer or household use. You are responsible for all activity carried out under your account, organisation workspace, credentials, and API keys, whether or not authorised by you internally.

You must keep login credentials and API keys secure, use appropriate access controls, and notify us immediately if you suspect compromise, leakage, unauthorised access, or misuse.

4. Limited licence

Subject to these terms and any applicable subscription or usage limits, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable licence during the term to access and use the service solely for your internal business operations and only in the manner expressly permitted by us.

No rights are granted by implication, estoppel, or otherwise. All rights not expressly granted are reserved by us and our licensors.

5. Prohibited use

You must not, and must not permit any third party to:

  • copy, reproduce, republish, sell, resell, rent, lease, license, sublicense, distribute, syndicate, or otherwise commercially exploit the service or any outputs except as expressly permitted by us in writing;
  • use the service to create, enhance, verify, enrich, train, test, or maintain any competing product, dataset, lookup service, search index, or address database;
  • systematically extract, scrape, harvest, download, crawl, mirror, or bulk collect any content, output, metadata, documentation, or source material from the service;
  • store outputs in bulk, create your own historical copy of the service outputs, or accumulate results over time so as to recreate, reconstruct, substitute for, or compete with our service or any underlying database;
  • cache or retain outputs for longer than expressly permitted under section 6;
  • use the service for benchmarking, comparative analysis, or public performance testing intended to evaluate or disparage the service without our prior written consent;
  • remove, obscure, or alter proprietary notices, attribution requirements, or technical restrictions;
  • circumvent authentication, rate limits, quotas, access controls, or any security or technical protection measures;
  • reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, derive source code from, or attempt to discover non-public aspects of the service, except where applicable law prohibits that restriction and then only to the minimum extent legally required;
  • use bots or automation other than your own lawful integration with our documented APIs in accordance with these terms;
  • use any output from the service to build, train, fine-tune, ground, seed, or enrich any machine learning or artificial intelligence model, embedding set, or synthetic dataset without our prior written consent;
  • use the service in a manner that is unlawful, misleading, fraudulent, abusive, defamatory, discriminatory, invasive of privacy, or otherwise harmful to us, our licensors, data subjects, or any third party.

6. Storage, retention, and caching limits

Unless we expressly agree otherwise in writing, you may use outputs only to support a live end-user transaction or your immediate internal operational workflow. You may display returned results to an end user during the active session, and you may retain the single final address record affirmatively selected or supplied by that end user where reasonably required for the underlying transaction, fulfilment, customer record, fraud prevention, or legal compliance.

Except for that limited selected-address use, you must not permanently store outputs. Temporary caching is permitted only where technically necessary to improve latency, resilience, or continuity of a live workflow, and any such cache must be proportionate, secure, non-public, and deleted within 24 hours of collection.

You must not maintain a rolling cache, lookup history, shadow table, offline archive, searchable mirror, or other retained dataset that preserves results beyond what is strictly necessary for the permitted use above. You must implement deletion practices that ensure expired cached data is removed promptly and cannot be used to reconstruct a broader dataset over time.

7. Intellectual property and database rights

The service, including its software, platform design, documentation, APIs, output formatting, compiled datasets, selection and arrangement of data, and all related materials, is protected by copyright, database right, trade secret, confidentiality, and other intellectual property laws. As between the parties, all such rights belong to us or our licensors.

You acknowledge that the service and its outputs may embody substantial investment in obtaining, verifying, arranging, presenting, and maintaining data. Any unauthorised extraction, reutilisation, systematic copying, bulk retention, or republication of all or a substantial part of the contents, or repeated extraction of insubstantial parts that conflicts with normal exploitation of the service or unreasonably prejudices our legitimate interests, is strictly prohibited.

These terms do not transfer ownership of any intellectual property rights to you. Any goodwill arising from your use of our names, marks, or branding belongs exclusively to us.

8. Compliance and lawful use

You are responsible for ensuring that your use of the service, and any processing of personal data or other regulated information connected with that use, complies with all applicable laws, regulations, industry codes, and contractual obligations. That includes data protection, privacy, direct marketing, sanctions, export control, consumer, competition, and intellectual property laws where relevant to your use case.

You must not use the service to support unlawful surveillance, discriminatory profiling, identity fraud, credential attacks, or attempts to gain unauthorised access to systems, accounts, or data.

9. Monitoring, investigations, suspension, and audit support

We may monitor use of the service for security, billing, quality assurance, abuse prevention, and legal compliance. If we reasonably suspect misuse, excessive retention, scraping, credential compromise, circumvention of controls, non-payment, or any breach of these terms, we may investigate, throttle, suspend, or terminate access immediately, with or without prior notice where necessary.

You must provide reasonable cooperation and information if we investigate suspected misuse. On reasonable request, you must confirm the technical and organisational measures you use to comply with the storage and retention restrictions in these terms.

10. Fees, plans, and payment

Paid use of the service is subject to the pricing, plan, credits, quotas, and billing terms presented to you at purchase or renewal. Subscription allowances apply only for the relevant billing period unless expressly stated otherwise. PAYG or prepaid credits are non-refundable unless required by law or expressly stated by us, and may expire if stated at the point of sale.

We may suspend access for overdue amounts, chargebacks, failed collections, or usage that exceeds agreed limits. You remain responsible for any taxes, duties, levies, or similar governmental charges payable in connection with your purchase or use of the service, other than taxes based on our net income.

11. Service levels, data quality, and disclaimers

We aim to provide a reliable service, but availability, completeness, and accuracy are not guaranteed. Address data and related outputs may change over time, may contain omissions or errors, and may depend on upstream sources, third-party licensors, or user inputs outside our control.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We disclaim all implied warranties, conditions, and representations, including implied warranties of merchantability, satisfactory quality, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, uninterrupted availability, or that the service will meet your requirements.

You are responsible for validating outputs before relying on them in any material business, legal, operational, financial, or customer-facing decision.

12. Indemnity

You will indemnify and keep indemnified us, our affiliates, and our licensors against all losses, liabilities, damages, costs, and expenses, including reasonable legal fees, arising out of or in connection with your breach of these terms, your unlawful or improper use of the service, your retention or misuse of outputs, your infringement of third-party rights, or your failure to comply with applicable law.

13. Liability limits

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

Subject to the previous paragraph, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive loss, or for loss of profit, revenue, business, goodwill, contracts, anticipated savings, data, or use, even if we were advised that such loss might occur.

Subject to the first paragraph of this section, our aggregate liability arising out of or in connection with the service and these terms will not exceed the greater of (a) the amounts paid by you to us for the service in the 12 months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim, and (b) GBP 100.

14. Termination and post-termination obligations

These terms continue for as long as you access or use the service. You may stop using the service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access immediately if you breach these terms, if required by law or a licensor, if continuing to provide access creates security or legal risk, or if you fail to pay amounts due.

On termination or suspension, your licence ends immediately and you must stop using the service. You must promptly delete retained outputs except to the extent retention is strictly required by law. Sections concerning fees owed, intellectual property, database rights, restrictions, indemnity, liability, confidentiality by nature, and dispute resolution survive termination.

15. General

We may update these terms from time to time by posting the revised version on this page. The updated version will take effect from the date stated at the top of the page or, where required, from the date we otherwise notify you. Your continued use of the service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

If any provision is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign or transfer your rights or obligations under these terms without our prior written consent. We may assign these terms as part of a reorganisation, financing, acquisition, merger, or sale of assets relating to the service.

16. Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms and any non-contractual obligations arising out of or in connection with them are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales will have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or in connection with these terms or the service, except that we may seek injunctive or equitable relief in any court of competent jurisdiction to protect our intellectual property, confidential information, systems, or database rights.

17. Contact

For questions about these terms, contact your AddressConnect account representative or the support channel made available through your account or service documentation.
